Russell “Rusty” Davis went to join his 1st born daughter, Lindsay, in Heaven on November 14, 2011, at the age of 52, after a long and painful illness. Rusty was born in Baytown, TX and was a proud native Texan. He is preceded by his mother, Judith Burch Chittenden. Rusty is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Shelby; fathers, Charles Davis and Don Chittenden; brothers, David Ramsey, Randy, Ronnie and Dwayne Davis; grandmother, Lanel Powell; numerous loving family members and friends.
Rusty graduated from La Porte High School in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army and during his service was awarded Trainee of the Cycle, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (all you bowlers laugh), Mechanic Badge, Hand Grenade (1st Class) and Rifle M-16 ( Expert). Rusty’s first love however, was shown on the bowling lanes. He had the kind of career and accomplishments anyone would envy. His two most prized honors however, were finally becoming City Champion and being inducted into the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame in 2000. Even with all his bowling honors, I know one thing I will miss the most is the “Rusty Hump!” You will forever be in our hearts and every time I see your daughter bowl, I will see you. As with Lindsay and Shelby – Forever in our Hearts – Love and miss you my soul mate – Barbara.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rusty’s name to the American Lung Association. Online memorial tributes may be placed at www.grandviewfunerals.com
