Grace Gonzalez, age 79 passed away peacefully on June 26, 2020 at Kindred Rehab Hospital in Webster, Texas. She was born on April 21, 1941 in McAllan, Texas to Henry Garza Sr. and Josefa (Balderena) Garza.
She graduated from Pasadena High School. While attending there she played the clarinet for the marching band, earned her beautician licensed and became an instructor at Baldwin Beauty College. She later opened and operated her own salon for many years. She then became a bilingual teacher’s aide for PISD. She completed her career working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Pasadena, Texas and retired as a mail sorter in Houston, Texas. Grace loved to her favorite teams, Astros, Texans and The Longhorns and traveled around south Texas to watch her grandkids participate in sports. The grandkids knew when grandma was in the stands because you could hear her cheers over the rest of the crowd.
She is survived by her son Juan Gonzalez Jr., his wife Amanda L. Gonzalez grandchild Aaron Gonzalez, his wife Elizabeth Ruiz Gonzalez, great grandchildren Aiden and Maddox. Grandchild Juan Gonzalez III, his wife Alyssa Gonzalez, great grandchildren Kaleb, Uriah, Jamesyn and Austin Grace of Natalia, Texas. Her daughter Leticia Dowden, her husband Toby Dowden, granddaughter Nelda Gonzalez, her husband Paul Michael great grandchildren, Isabel, Alexsis, Michael. Grandson, Stephen Dowden, his wife Jordon Dowden, great grandchildren Avery and Lincoln of Woodville, Texas. Her daughter Yolanda Escamilla and grandchildren Hector J, Escamilla Jr., Ricardo Escamilla and Mariah Escamilla of Pasadena, Texas. Her daughter Amanda Gonzalez, her husband Joe Ramos son Jakobi Gonzalez. Grandchild, David Abilez and great granddaughter Destiny. Grandson Ivan Abilez, great grandchildren Ivan Lee great granddaughter Nadia, Grandson Isaac Abilez, Granddaughter, Nina Covarrubias husband Julio, great grandchildren Kenan Jessica, Jacob, Kalissa and Suzette. Granddaughter, Imelda Abilez great granddaughters Ebony, Dejia, Maribel and Angelica of Pasadena, Texas. Her son Carlos Gonzalez and wife Martha Gonzalez of Pasadena, Texas.
As well as her sisters Helen Millican, Mary Lou Rikeman, and brother Ray Garza of Deer Park, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Gonzalez Sr. and son David Gonzalez. Her parents Henry G. Garza and Josefa Baldearena Garza and siblings Henrietta Arroyo, Irene Gongora, Olga Garza, Henry Garza Jr., Beatrice Arthur, Viola Garza, Ruben Garza and Maggie Kitch. Grace G. Gonzalez one of 12 children.
Grace Gonzalez will be deeply missed by her Family and friends.
Funeral Services are schedule at 6pm to 8pm on Thursday July 2, and Friday July 3, 2020 at 10 am to lay her down to rest at Grand View Cemetery.
