Margie Marie Holub Finley passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 30, 2023, in Magnolia, Texas. She was born to William and Annie Holub on September 30, 1942. She grew up in Bay City, Texas. She met the love of her life, Jim Finley, and they were married on October 6, 1960. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister, Lolly Lynch. Because of the nature of Jim’s job, they moved often until they landed in Baytown in 1968, where they lived for 54 years.
Margie is survived by daughter, Robin, and son-in-law, Steve Richards, son, Scott Finley, and daughter-in-law, Jackie, grandchildren Katie and her husband Christian Erikson, Devin Finley, Falynn, and her husband Kody Cochran and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Bobby Lynch, sister-in-law, Judy Finley, and many nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
Margie was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Baytown. She was employed by Goose Creek Consolidated School District as a paraprofessional at Horace Mann Junior School for 27 years. There she met many special friends, including her two best friends, Lou Ann Barth and Sue Stephenson. The three ladies did everything together.
Margie was active in St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she and her family attended Saturday night mass for years. She was an officer in the Altar Society, served as Wedding Coordinator, and was a member of the Funeral Committee. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Crafters Club. The ladies in this club spent hours making various projects to donate to the annual church festival. In addition to her services to the church, Margie was a volunteer for Relay for Life.
Margie was the matriarch of the family. She was kind and calm. She enjoyed simple things like working in her yard or reading a good book. She also enjoyed travelling with her family. The highlight of her travels was her visit to the Czech Republic from where her ancestors immigrated. Margie was a special lady who will be sorely missed.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2023, at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the church narthex. Honorary pallbearers are Devin Finley, Kody Cochran, Christian Erikson, Connor Erikson, Collin Erikson and Carson Erikson, and Randy Lynch.
The family wishes to thank those at Valiente Memory Care Living and Devotion Hospice who took great care of Margie in her final days as she succumbed to Vascular Dementia.
