Margaret D. Coleman passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on July 14, 2020 at the age of 74. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Margaret was a Christian and an active member of Meadow Crest Church in Pasadena, Texas.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Margaret was a military brat who lived in numerous locations during her childhood. She attended school at Dougherty High in Albany, Georgia, and met the love of her life in San Antonio, Texas. Margaret and Dwayne Coleman were married on December 16, 1967 and moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1970, where they made their home and raised their three children.
Margaret was an extraordinary homemaker and always made time to help others. She volunteered at her children’s schools and their extracurricular activities. She volunteered at the Alvin’s Women Shelter and hosted numerous events for her church. Margaret was famous at her husband’s office for her peanut brittle gifts.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Coleman, Jr., parents, Chester Scott, Frances Young, Claud Young, Sr. and brother, Claud Young, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dwayne Coleman; three children, Robert (Jessica) Coleman of Kingsville, Texas, Lisa (William) Roland of Deer Park, Texas, and Kenneth (Portia) Coleman of Jasper, Texas; her grandchildren, Carolina Coleman, Ryan McCasland, Shawn Klesel, Emma Roland, Madison Coleman, Eliza Coleman, Ian Coleman, and Oliver Coleman; six great, grandchildren; brother, Chet (Miriam) Young of Linville, Virginia; and sisters, Edna Thompson of Mobile, Alabama, and Karan (Mike) Olson of Orange, Texas, many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
