Lillian Oneita Buckingham (Big Mama) moved into her mansion after a brief but brave battle with cancer on September 8, 2013. She was born in Emory, Texas and graduated from Quitman High School. She worked as a telephone operator and later as a sales associate for Foley’s for over 50 years, retiring in 2012.
She will be remembered for her love of traveling, visiting with friends and family and her passion for butterflies. She always found a way to help others. She didn’t have it in her to say no if someone needed something. Throughout her life she made a small deposit of love, kindness, friendship and hope to everyone she met. She was a member of Queens Rd. Baptist church where she served faithfully.
She leaves behind 3 daughters and sons-in-law; Sandy Livingston and Ronnie, Mona Nebel and Kurt, Rebecca Havard and Larry; 10 Grandchildren, Tammy Marquis and Ken, Jimmy Reynolds and Tracy, Bubba Livingston and Gloria, Tammi Manson and Chris, Ronni Miranda and Robert, Racquel Schlabra, Rachel Schlabra, Roger Nebel and Celeste, Gary Ullrich and Michelle; 19 Great-Grandchildren, Scott, Steven and Shantel Ward, Brooks and Claire Reynolds, Meagan, Taylor and Eryn Livingston, Mikayla Larkin, Misty Charo, Joey Kaminsky, Aron Schlabra, Steven Ortiz, Patrick, Garrett and Shelbie Swilley, Amber and Nick Trevino, Alexis and Jasmine Ullrich; 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren; CoriRae Charo, Nicholas, Derek, Giana and Zoe Trevino and her Bonus daughter , Alfie Driver; One brother, James McDaniel, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her bright smile and warm hugs.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2 pm in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Grand View Memorial Park with Jimmy Reynolds, Gary Ullrich, Bubba Livingston, Roger Nebel, Chris Manson, Joey Kaminsky, Brooks Reynolds, Patrick Swilley assisting as Pallbearers. Steven Ward and Garrett Swilley will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
