John L. Dyer, 88 of Deer Park, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021. He was born March 22, 1933 in Snyder, Texas to Jake and Winnie {Hester) Dyer. John was a family man who has traveled the world visiting all the sports stadiums and battlegrounds. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed running in marathons. He was a cowboy at heart, great cook who enjoyed cooking BBQ meals and Cajun recipes. John served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Los Angeles. After his discharge he went to Barber School and Barbered for the next 19 years, working part-time. John went back to college and received his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in History.
He is survived by his 4 children, Debbie McDonald; Jerry Dyer and Blu; John Dyer and wife, Sharon; Kim Ellen and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Kyle, Tosha, Shannon, Jared, Tyler and Brittany with great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tristan, Braeden, Jacob, Hannah, Peyton, Durham, Carter and one on the way; along with sisters Paula Ruder and husband, Jim; Kay White and husband, Bob; brothers, Jerry Taylor and wife, Mary Lou and Jackie Taylor and wife, Tonya; with numerous grand spouses, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray Dyer.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 14, 2021 at Grand View Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm until service time with burial following with Navy Honors at Grand View Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Dyer, Tyler Dyer, Zachary Hyett, Tristan McDonald, Jacob Evans, Marty White and Kevin Taylor.
