Jimmy Givens, age 74, of Oakhurst, Texas passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 due to a long battle with cancer. He was born on November 5, 1947 in the small town of Blanco, Texas to J.D. Givens and Early Givens. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Henderson Givens on August 26th 1967. His world has revolved around her since they started dating at the ages of 15 and 16 and they recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and numerous family members and is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughter Kim Givens-Bang and spouse Jesper Bang, two granddaughters, Danika and Kyra, sister, Denise Ashworth, sister in law, Patti Means, and nieces and nephews, Kyle Means, Dusty Ashworth, Randi Ashworth and Marissa Ashworth.
Jimmy had a lifelong passion for classic fast cars, hunting, all his farm and shop “toys”, and has been the king of Amazon prime shopping. He could not resist buying the perfect gifts for all of his girls and having them delivered as a surprise for no specific occasion at all. He could not pass up the opportunity on a good deal even if it meant buying 24 toothbrushes, 64 rolls of toilet paper or 500 paper plates.
He worked in the oil industry the majority of his career and made numerous friends along the way. He was loyal and loving, but if you messed with his desk or his stuff, you got the grand “Godfather” stare. Retribution and genius pranks were pure entertainment for Jimmy.
And can we talk about that perfect head of hair that never, ever had a single strand out of place? There was no such thing as touching or brushing his hair, unless of course, you were one of his granddaughters ... and then you could do whatever you please.
Jimmy was fun loving, sweet, caring, and kind. He could be intimidating when he wanted and knew how and when to crack a joke. He was witty even during his final days and continued to make his friends and family laugh, which was a huge comfort. There is nothing that Jimmy loved more than his wife and family and he will be missed by all. Although our hearts are broken from this immense loss, we will be comforted with all of our memories.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
