Jeanette was a loving wife, Mother of 4 and
Nana of 11 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren
Her warmth, love, and laughter filled our spirits with joy.
Elois Jeanette Burke 80, of Houston, TX passed away on July 1, 2022, surrounded by her family. Jeanette was a Christian and grew up in San Francisco, CA until she was 5 years of age, she moved to Point, TX until she was 13 years of age and then Deer Park, TX until she married at the age of 18. She attended Point Elem, Deer Park Jr. High and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1960. She was a secretary and held many positions in the medical field. She worked at the Houston Chronicle and was a Library Historian at San Jacinto Monument for a number of years. She enjoyed play acting at Pasadena Little Theater for several years and making flower arrangements for her children and grandchildren’s weddings.
Jeanette’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joys, she loved to make dinosaur PB&J’s for her greats and tell stories about how she was a Rodeo Barrel Racer. She had a vivid imagination and was an avid writer.
Jeanette had an appetite for all likes of food especially seafood. She enjoyed playing the keyboard and she loved playing games on her I-pad , she was a regular player at the Texas Hold’em poker table on-line. Her favorite holiday was 4th of July, this is the day ALL the family would get together eat BBQ and watermelon and end the evening with fireworks.
Jeanette will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Jeanette is predeceased by her father, Deward Vincent Shepherd, mother Goldie Inez (Shepherd) Sanders, brother and sister in-law Dan and Sue Burke, sister in-law Linda Shepherd and grandson Vincent Wayne Burke. She is survived by her husband James Edward Burke, her children, Brynda Michelle Barthelemy from La Porte, TX, James Vincent Burke and wife Kathy from Deer Park, TX, Lena Inez Barker and husband Paul from Sagemont, TX, Linda Cherie Downs and husband Kenny from Pearland, TX and brother Deward (Butch) Artel Shepherd, of Pasadena, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Hester and wife Tiffanie, Paul Barker Jr. and wife Janet, Brad Barker and wife Tessa, Christa Hester and wife Meghan, Brandi Downs and husband Glen, Brittany Downs, Dewayne Murtishaw Jr., Tyler Edge, Jessica Fadler and Sara Burke and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Jeanette requested a celebration of life be held in her honor. We request all of Jeanette’s friends and family to join us at Grandview Funeral 8501 Spencer Hwy Pasadena, TX 77505 for services on Thursday July 7th, at 10am and immediately following for visitation with family and lunch at her daughter’s house located 2203 Lago Canyon Ct. Pearland, TX 77089.
