Eva “Maxine” Newkirk Grant went hometo be with Jesus on May 18, 2022 after 90 eventful years on earth. She was born on December 18, 1931 to Marion Walter and Iva Gassie Ferguson Newkirk. Maxine graduated from Edinburg High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, Billy Joe Grant, on July 31,1953. Together they raised their four children in Kingsville, Texas.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Randy Wayne Grant, grandson Jason Dewitt Grant, son-in-law Rick Jarzombek, great-grandson Kamden Lane Patrick, great-granddaughter Kenzley Grace Moy, four sisters, three brothers, and several beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Maxine is survived by her son Joey Grant (Cookie) of Corpus Christi, Texas, her daughter Cyndi Moy (Jerome) of Yoakum,Texas, her daughter Tammy Jarzombek (fiancé Ronnie Buehring) of St. Hedwig, Texas, ten grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, many treasured nieces, nephews and friends, and her precious“fur baby” Donatello.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, but there is solace in knowing that she is now walking the streets of gold.
Funeral services will be held at Pasadena Funeral Home on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Graveside services will follow at Grand View Memorial Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and her son.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Tony Grant, Trey Moy, Jordan Moy, Jacob Moy, Justin Yaklin, and Andy Yaklin and great-grandsons Logan Brown and Kyle Patrick. Great grandsons Derick Grant, Branson Moy, and Braeden Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.
