David Mack Mullican was born July 10, 1939 in Teague, Texas, and passed away on October 22, 2014 in Pasadena, TX, surrounded by friends and family. He was pre-deceased by his son, Kelly Ray Mullican, and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca Sue Mullican. He is also survived by his son Martin David Mullican and daughter-in-law Armita Mullican, daughter Judith Marie Parker and son-in-law Craig Parker, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. David had a forty year career in law enforcement before retiring in 2002. His career began at the Conroe Police Department from 1962 to 1964. Much of his career was spent working for the Pasadena Police Department from 1964 to 1990, including serving as Chief of Police from 1980 to 1984. He was also known for his work on several high profile cases during his tenure in Pasadena, including the Elmer Wayne Henley and Ronald Clark O’Brien cases. He also worked for several other police agencies after retiring from Pasadena, including the Port of Houston, Harris County, Madison County, and the Houston Community College Police Department. David was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Apart from his career, David was a true family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. To his great grandchildren, he was known as “Big Grandpa”, a term that he really enjoyed. He spent the last twelve years of his life spending time with his wife and family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
