Betty Jean Tippit

Betty was born in Victoria, Texas January 16, 1928. She was the second child of William Daniel and Irma Pauline Wacker.

Betty grew up with sister, Lois Marie, in depression era Texas. Her father, William Daniel Wacker, was a cigar maker. Her mother, Irma Pauline Wacker, a housewife.

At 16 years of age Betty met Nelson Tippit. Nelson was a corporal in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed at Aloe Field in Victoria, Texas. The two fell in love and were married at the Aloe Field chapel on March 11, 1944 with family and friends attending.

After WWII the couple moved to Pasadena, Texas where Nelson resumed his employment with Shell Oil Company. There they started their family with a son, Donald Nelson, born in 1957 followed shortly thereafter by daughter, Suzanne Marie born in 1959.

Betty was a gifted mother. She had the most patient and loving spirit. Betty nurtured not only her own children but nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always protectful, always trustworthy, always hopeful and her love persevered. People were drawn to her because of these qualities. Betty also had a love for the Lord and she entrusted herself to Him throughout her life.

Betty made her home in Pasadena, Texas for some 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents William Daniel and Irma Pauline Wacker, her sister Lois Marie Curd and husband of 56 years, Nelson Tippit. Betty is survived by her brother-in-law Morgan Tippit, son Donald Tippit and wife Theresa, daughter Suzanne Christiansen, grandchildren Justin Sanders, Jacob Sanders, Tanna Tippit, Cory Christiansen, Caleb Christiansen, Lindsay Tippit, Brandon Christiansen, Arik Christiansen and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday November 24, 2015 starting at 1:00 pm with funeral service at 2:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Park, Pasadena, Texas. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial park

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Pine Valley Bible Church or your favorite charity.
