Don was predeceased by his parents, Duncan and Patricia Bissett; mother, Pearl Blatchford (Cawsey); brother, Ken Bissett; and long-time partner, Carol Lum. He is survived by his daughter, Leanna (Mike) Le Fevre; grandchildren, Ryan Hallett, Tammy (Jackson) Clark; brothers, Barry (Connie), David (Dan), Brian, and Rick (Lynn); sisters, Dauna (Bob) Ellis, Sharon Green (Geoff), and Cheryl (Kevin) Gilbert; Carol’s family – sister, Diana and daughters, Julie and Laurie; as well as many nephews and nieces.
Don’s working life was spent mainly at sea as a marine engineer with Seaspan (Washington Marine Group). Don had a great interest in mining and enjoyed prospecting. Lots of time also spent fishing and clamming and spending time with his many friends and family. Always a beer in the fridge!
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oceanside palliative care nurses, Kathy and Roxanne, and to Dr Susan Hunter who all took such wonderful care of him. Also, thank you to Don’s ‘second family’, his friends and the staff at the Crown and Anchor.
At Don’s request, there will be no service – in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
