Wilma was a lifelong resident of Parkersburg and Belpre. She was born the second daughter of Floyd Calvin Sams and Mildred White Sams, both preceding her in death.
She graduated from PHS, where she was active in Journalism activities and vocal groups. After graduation, she worked for Army Map Service in Washington D.C.
She was a member of the Marrtown Presbyterian Church, where she formerly served as part-time pianist, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. She was a pioneering member of WTAP TV Parkersburg, as a receptionist and later as Traffic Manager. She also served as caregiver for Alzheimer patients for several years.
She was also preceded in death by her former husband, L. Burl Moore; daughter, Beth Louise Moore Vaughn (David); and son, Lionel Burl Moore.
She is survived by one brother, Floyd Calvin Sams, of Parkersburg; two sisters, Martha Jane Sams Russell, of Asheboro, NC, and Constance Sue Sams Bryan, of Chico, CA.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ariel Vaughn, of Sarasota, FL, Ian Vaughn (Keela), and three great-grandchildren, Layla, Eloise, and Oliver Vaughn, all of Bradeton, FL.
Two nieces and two nephews also survive, Joyce Russell McCrorey (Brian), of Asheboro, NC, Kelly Bryan Valentine (Chip), of Chico, CA, Terry Bryan (Heather), of Omaha, NE, and Christopher Bryan (Teresa), of Milton, FL. One niece, Wanda Russell Valdez-Cruz, preceded her aunt in death.
Interment is with Sunset Memory Gardens. She will be placed beside her son, Lionel, in the mausoleum.
