He was born August 14, 1926 in Weirton, WV a son of the late Floyd and Virgia Riddle.
Bill was a blinded veteran who served in the Navy during WWII and retired from the US Air Force after more than 20 years’ service. Upon his retirement from the service the family returned to the Parkersburg area in 1969 where he worked for Dravo Corporation in Marietta and later in Charlotte NC. He then moved to San Antonio, TX and later to Ft Worth. While in Texas, he and Irene were very active members of the Blinded Veterans Association. He enjoyed spending time traveling to BVA conventions, reading and playing on his computer, always anxious to keep up with current events and things going on in the world around him.
Surviving is son John Riddle (Phyllis) of Weatherford, TX, and daughter, Karen Amick (Bill) of Parkersburg, WV. Grandchildren, Jess Amick (Kinsey) of Martinsburg, WV, Heather Amick Kovalak of Woodbury, MN, Keith Riddle (Nicole) of Fayetteville, NC, and Patience Johnson-Parker of Weatherford, TX. Great Grandchildren, Isadora Amick, Abigail Kovalak, Kayleigh, Luke, and Sera Riddle, and Jennifer, Jacob, and Shelby Parker. Brothers, Floyd Robert Riddle (Ruth) and Carl David Riddle (Sandy) and sister in law Louise Riddle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Irene Riddle who passed away on February 24, 2012, his brother Jack Riddle, and sister in law JoAnn Riddle.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, 2:00 pm. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sunsetparkersburg.com.
