Suzanne J Kirby

Suzanne Johnson Kirby, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Vienna in the early morning hours of November 4, 2024. She had been hospitalized locally for nearly three months following extensive surgery on both legs. She was discharged to home with hospice and family providing comfort care.

A 1969 graduate of Parkersburg High School, the majority of Suzanne's work history was behind a switchboard and/or a typewriter or computer. She worked in offices of Penn Metal Company in Vienna, Borg-Warner Chemicals/Marbon Chemicals in Washington, WV, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg. Additionally, she and her twin sister owned and operated Sweet Tooth Luey's bakery and pepperoni roll shop in Vienna until it closed. Over the years, Suzanne has been a caregiver to others, a veterinary tech, and as an avid lover of animals, paid several sponsorship fees to the Humane Society of Parkersburg to ensure loving homes for dogs and cats sheltered there. She also had a deep affinity for the elderly and military veterans and would often pay their dining bill when she encountered them at local restaurants. Her passions in life were God, her daughter, cooking and animals.

Surviving Suzanne are her daughter Karlee Noel Kirby of Vienna; sister Sherry (Johnson) Keith of Parkersburg, twin sister Sally (Johnson) Radabaugh and husband Steve also of Parkersburg; and several great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her adopted Great Pyrenees "fur babies" Layla and Myles. She was preceded in death by her parents Morford and Eleanor (Bower) Johnson, also of Vienna.

A brief graveside service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens on Thursday November 7 at 11am for immediate family members.

Per her request, memorial donations of money, food, or cleaning supplies may be made in Suzanne's name to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, 530- 29th Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
