Richard Morgan Lamb was reunited with his parents and other loved ones as he passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2024 at age 80. He was born to Morgan Lamb and Rula Emma Tidwell Lamb on April 12, 1944. Their only child.
Richard graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1962. He earned his Eagle Scout at a young age. He loved scouting and participated in many State and National Scouting Jamborees. He attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, 1963 to1965. He was the first in his family to attend college. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he successfully served a full-time Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the ‘Southern States Mission’ of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Upon returning home, he enrolled at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, earning a BS degree in 1968 and a Master’s degree in 1976.
Mr. Lamb’s professional career in education began at Salome High School in 1968. He later moved to Parker in 1979, where he taught type and shorthand classes and moving to business classes at Parker High School until 2012. He was instrumental in integrating technology into the curriculum and developing the current Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
Mr. Lamb also taught classes for Arizona Western Colleges (AWC) and helped establish the concurrent enrollment program between Parker High and AWC.
In 2014, following his retirement, Richard was appointed to the AWC District Governing Board, filling a vacancy left by Board Member Janet Ezhas. During his tenure, Richard contributed significantly to the development of the college’s strategic plan.
In 2021, Richard was inducted into the AWC Hall of Fame. He enthusiastically concluded his remarks at the ceremony with, “It’s a great day to be a Matador!” Mr. Lamb's unwavering dedication to education and his community has left an indelible mark on AWC. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
“Richard Lamb was a quintessential Matador,” said AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr. “Few have given so much to our college, our community, and our educational landscape. Mr. Lamb’s deep love for Arizona Western College was known far and wide, and he leaves an incomparable legacy as a district governing board member of nearly ten years. He tirelessly advocated for access to education and college opportunities within the Parker and greater La Paz County region.
In Richards’s spare time he loved being with and supporting The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionaries throughout many years. Richard held faithfully many callings in his wards over the years and loved the service that he was able to provide.
Richard was preceded in death by both of his parents & grandparents. He is survived by many1st and 2nd cousins, who love him and will miss him very much.

There will also be a gathering at Parker Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:30 for those who are unable to make the Saturday services. Graveside service with interment will be Saturday August 10, 2024 at Moroni, Utah Cemetery at 1:00pm
