Leslie Eugene Bramlett

Leslie Eugene Bramlett, 92, passed away peacefully in Dallas on September 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Catherine Bramlett, and his parents, Lena and Ross Rasberry.

Les was born on July 25, 1932, in Paris, Texas. He helped his family in his early years through his paper route job, throwing the Paris News to many neighborhood families. Customers would leave their doors open on rainy days so he could throw the square-folded news directly into their houses from the street as he rode by on his bicycle. Les was a proud graduate of Paris High School and worked as a telegraph operator on the USS Haven hospital ship while serving in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He attended Paris Junior College and graduated with a business degree from East Texas State University. It was in Paris where Les met the love of his life, Catherine Dewitt, and together they raised their family as he enjoyed a 30-year career in corporate accounting at Sears, Roebuck & Co. After retirement from Sears, Les joined a non-profit owner of senior living communities, American Religious Town Hall, where a short-term accounting role turned into a second career for about 20 years. He did not excel at retirement. Les was a kind, selfless, and gentle caretaker for his family, helping his five children in so many ways and at so many different stages of their lives. He drew on his athleticism and American Legion baseball experience to help coach the neighborhood little league team to Plano city championships. Les and Catherine’s home in Plano was often full of teenagers through the 1980s, where junk food snacks and laughs were plentiful for all.

Les is survived and remembered with love and affection by his children and their spouses, Bill and Betsy Bramlett, Bob and Melany Bramlett, Lisa Bramlett Brown and Ron Burton, Matt and Gillian Bramlett, and Mitch and Sara Bramlett. Poppy, as he was called by his family, took great delight in his 14 grandchildren – John, Justin, Brittany (Homero), Ashley, Cortney, Kristopher (Blair), Krystal, Travis, Tara (Christian), Kate, Charlie, Andrew (Sarah), Audrey (Garrett), and Lauren.

The family would like to thank Gloria Shorts, Tyrone Shorts, Anthony Mitchell and the staff at The Family’s Choice (especially Alice and Joy), for their loving care for Les in these last few years.

A private service, under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home, will be held for the family in Paris, Texas on October 8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or a charity of your choice.
