James A. “Jim” Lipscomb, 64, of Reno, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Medical City Dallas while surrounded by his loving family. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9th, at the United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Robert Myre & Jordan Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Jim, the son of A. V. & Eris Friday Lipscomb, was born Nov. 23, 1950, in Texarkana, Texas. He and his wife, Dot, were foster-parents and influenced the lives of many children, several of which to this day call him Dad. Jim’s career as an electrical technician with Kimberly-Clark spanned twenty-two years. He was a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church where he had been a music minister and choir director. Jim’s desire was to travel and minister the Word in song. He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Dillon Lipscomb on Aug. 18, 2013, and by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sue “Dot” Lipscomb, whom he married on April 28, 1973, building forty-one years of family and memoires, two daughters, Tamara Lipscomb Smallwood & husband Phillip and Natalie Lipscomb Coco & husband Brad, grandchildren, Madelyn, Annabelle, Caroline & Elijah Smallwood and Ethan & Aubrey Coco, three brothers, Russell Lipscomb & wife Theresa, Gerald Lipscomb & wife Bernice and Warren Lipscomb & wife Cheri along with a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a plethora of friends.
