Gregory Scott “Homer” Carter, 52, of Reno, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 22, 2017, at his home while surrounded by family. The family has scheduled memorial services for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30th, at Oasis of Life Tabernacle, 6365 Lamar Ave., Reno, TX 75462, with Pastor Jimmy Nutt, Sr. and Evangelist Anna McCarty officiating. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Gregory, the son of Gary Keith & Linda Frances Smith Carter, was born July 25, 1965, in Dallas. He graduated from Prairiland High School in 1983, and was an Eagle Scout. He served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Army Engineers being honorably discharged with the rank of Spec 5. He worked for Ark-Tex and was still employed at the time of his death. Gregory was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Mary LaVonda “Shorty” Carter, whom he married on Feb. 11, 1989, building twenty-eight years of family and memories, their son, Samuel Michael Carter of the home, his parents, Gary Keith & Linda Frances Carter, two brothers, Anthony Paul Carter & Timothy Ryan Carter, his mother-in-law, Charlotte Amon & husband Dennis of Hutchins along with endless other family members, friends and military brothers & sisters.
