Born in Springfield, Nebraska during the Great Depression to Troy and Erma (Nicholson) Buskirk. Times were hard, but living in the small town of Springfield with her parents, siblings, grandparents and many friends it was a happy childhood. She would play chalk talk with her siblings and other kids in town and they would go all over town writing directions on the sidewalks that other kids would have to follow. She and her friends loved dressing kittens up in doll clothes, feeding them milk from bottles and listening to them make their little mewing sounds. She enjoyed spending summers on her aunt Neva's farm outside of Louisville where she fed the chickens, gathered eggs and taught the baby ducks how to swim.
She graduated from Springfield High School and then cosmetology school. She worked several years as a licensed cosmetologist, then at Crown Products in Ralston. She married and had two kids. She then started working at Western Electric/AT&T and retired after 26 years. She raised her family in Ralston and lived there for 53 years until her health took a downward turn, and lived her remaining years at Papillion Manor. She treasured all of her family and loved to spend time with them. She loved all of her many dogs over the years and always fed the birds and squirrels. Her favorite flower was the wild violet. She always said "it's the only blue flower." She enjoyed crocheting and traveling on summer family vacations.
Lora is predeceased by her parents, Troy and Erma (Nicholson) Buskirk; sisters, Loree Post and Gaynell Daniels.
She is survived by her children, Jerry (Cathy) of LaVista and Sharon of Ralston; granddaughters, Larissa, Danielle and Mikaela; brothers, Tom Buskirk of Springfield and Gary Buskirk of Louisville; many nieces and nephews.
