Ted was a Navy veteran, stationed on a submarine tender, USS Proteus and called Harry Truman his hero. He dedicated himself to his country with pride and commitment. After his military service, Ted pursued a career as a movie projectionist and than an Electrical Engineer, retiring in 1993.
A true gentleman, Ted was the epitome of kindness and integrity. He worshipped at the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA, as a child singing in the choir to raising his family in the Episcopalian faith. Ted and Margi spent 10+ years as snowbirds at the same community in Margate, Fla. They enjoyed playing bocci and pentaque, finding joy in friendly competition and camaraderie. Ted spent most of his adult life, an active member of VFW Post 5203, as commander among other important roles, serving his community until VFW Post 5203 disbanded. He then joined VFW Post 106, West Chester, as a life member until his death.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Gail (ex-Scott), son, Ted (Jill), grandchildren, Bob (Dana), Graham, Jamaca (Brandon), Lia (Pete), Ashley, Taylor, Rita, great-grandchild Ava, as well as nieces and nephews whom he cherished as close family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margi, his daughter Kathleen, his granddaughter Chelsea, and his only sibling, Richard.
A service in memory of Ted will be held at Alleva Funeral Home in Paoli, PA, on April 17, 2024 at 2 p.m. A reception will immediately follow at Sajer Reception Hall, Alleva Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, www.vfw.org/donate in honor of Ted's dedication to his country and fellow veterans. Ted will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
