Age 83, of Paoli, PA, formerly of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
The only child of the late Patrick J. and Ellen Linehan Regan, Peg was born in the Bronx, New York on April 22, 1929. She attended Cathedral High School in New York City, and received her degree as a registered nurse from St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. She worked for many years as a nurse in the campus infirmary at Bryn Mawr College, retiring in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Shannon, Jr. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: John and Tuesday Shannon; Kerry and Timothy Farrell; Tara and Raymond Stackhouse; Kevin and Claudia Shannon; and Brendan and Kerry Shannon. She is also survived by 11 beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her family will always remember her strong spirit, her deep Catholic faith and her abiding love and affection for her family and many friends. Above all, they will remember her wisdom and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on May 10, 2012 at St. Norbert's Roman Catholic Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA 19301. A visitation will be held in the Church prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery, Gulph Road and Matsonford Road, West Conshohocken, PA.
The family extends its deep gratitude to the staff of Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in the name of Peg Shannon can be made either to the Diamond-Blackfan Anemia Foundation or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
