James R. Rosato, on May 5 2017, passed away after a long illness at the age 90. Son of the late Dominic and Olga Rosato. He is survived by his brothers Dr. Donald J. Rosato and Dr. Edward Rosato. Was an outstanding athlete at TE High School where he played basketball and was a captain of the football team. Served in the US Navy in World War II from 1944 to 1945 as a pharmacist mate.
He graduated from Villanova University in 1950 with a degree in history and his teaching certification. He spent his entire life at the family property on Conestoga Rd. in Devon where he built his own house working nights and weekends with help from family. Married to Ruth (Kelley) Rosato who together had six children; Judy (Richard) Bastian, Nancy (Donald) Leopold, James (Jane) Rosato Jr. Andrew (Barbara) Rosato, the late Marissa Rosato and Amy (Darrell) Birck. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. After the passing of his loving wife Ruth he remarried to Marilyn McMullen and enlarged his family with five step children and eleven step grandchildren. He taught history and philosophy at Conestoga High School for thirty years where he was feared by some ,loved by many but respected by all.
He also owned and operated Rosato Masonry for fifty years and his work can be seen throughout the Main Line area. He will be remembered for his generosity, hard work, love of his family, brutal honesty and refusal to back down from a fight.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 10 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Strafford. Int. Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken. Viewing Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:50 in the Sacred Heart Chapel of the OLA Church.
