My mother, Ann Brady Brinkofski, was deeply saddened to hear of her beloved Aunt Grace's passing.  My mother has many beautiful memories of her "Brady" aunts and uncles. Mrs. Lahiff only drank tea, which is why I only drank tea (never coffee) until well into my 30’s. She had her own stash of Pepperidge Farm cookies that Barbara and I would pilfer when the opportunity arose.  I wanted to be a nurse until I was about 10, and I know I disappointed Mrs. Lahiff when I didn’t.  She was so proud when Barbara followed in her footsteps!  Mrs. Lahiff was devoted to her family, her friends and her faith in her God and her Church.  I’m sure God has her very busy assisting him in Heaven.  Thank you for being such an integral part in all of our lives, Mrs. Lahiff!  Mom cherished your lo friendship!

What a wonderful woman. I clicked on to share some thoughts and saw that my brother, Bill, was on the exact same page. My mom absolutely treasured her friendship with Grace. And the Edgewood Drive nurse role was very real. Lots of boys in the neighborhood meant lots of cuts, bumps, and bruises. If Mom sent you to Mrs. Lahiff, you knew that you had something fairly serious. But when Mrs. Lahiff said, “Oh, that definitely needs stitches,” you were on your way to the ER. I’m smiling now thinking about those two friends together again. 

Besides being my mothers oldest and dearest friend, she was the neighborhood doctor on Edgewood Drive.  Whether broken bones or in need of stitches, my mother always sent us to Grace for her assement before going to the hospital! I'm sure she and Verna are catching up over coffee in heaven right now ! 


Aunt Grace was always gracious and kind. She and Uncle Buzz always celebrated family milestones ranging from baptisms to birthdays and graduations. Many great family memories.  Terry Lally

Aunt Grace was such a favorite of our family. When she was first married and Uncle Buzz was in the service, they lived in an apartment created on the third floor of our home. I always thought of her as part of the family since there was so much back and forth. When she moved to Lexington Avenue, as a child I was always welcome. That continued when they moved to Chatham, she was always quick with an invitation to family events. I think that she and my mother (Agnes) spoke every day. At my mother's end, it was Aunt Grace who sat with me by her hospital bed. God bless you, Aunt Grace, you will always be in my prayers.
