He was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1927 to Edgar Beugless and the former Mary McKelvey. He lived in Delaware until he moved with his family to Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Louisville Male High School. He attended Princeton University and he was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked for over thirty-five years for the Insurance Company of North America (INA) and CIGNA at the Philadelphia headquarters. He also worked as the Assistant to the President of Peerless Insurance Company in Keene, New Hampshire.
He earned his CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) in the 1950s. During his years working as an insurance executive at INA and CIGNA, he graded CPCU exams for the Insurance Institute of America in Malvern, PA. An expert in property and casualty insurance, he was a grader for twenty-five years.
While working at INA in 1964, he met his beloved future wife, Theresa Ford. They married in 1966 and enjoyed 54 years together. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than spending time with family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and following the Philadelphia sports teams. He and his family spent annual summer vacations together in Ocean City, New Jersey.
He was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Exton where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Ford, and their three daughters, Caroline Jeppi (John) of Baltimore, MD; Suzanne Piombino (John) of West Chester and Rebecca Wickes (Schuyler) of Berwyn. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Samuel Jeppi, Nicole & Grace Piombino and Sophie & Anna Wickes.
