peacefully passed away of natural causes in his home, surrounded by love and family on the morning of Thursday, January 26, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1935. He completed an apprenticeship with the Steamfitters Union, and celebrated 65 years of Union membership earlier this year. Dean founded and established DNB Mechanical alongside his son and namesake, Dean Jr. as skilled master plumbers for many decades in the Philadelphia area.
Dean was a beloved and devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending his freetime with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He could be found ringside supporting his daughters and grandchildren at various equestrian events; joyriding motorcycles, boats, and airplanes with his son; or lounging at the end of the dock overlooking the Chesapeake bay with a bourbon in hand, alongside the love of his life, Ellen. Dean was the person that his family could count on no matter the hour or location, he would be there without a hesitation and at a moments notice.
Dean lived life to the fullest by living in the moment and trusting his intuition. He was a great judge of character, strongly opinionated, and led with his big heart.
Dean is survived by his wife and partner of nearly 40 years, Ellen Radcliffe-Brewer, their children, Sarah Brewer-Clarius (Jordan) and Allison Brantner (Evan); his first wife, Peggy Anne, and their children, Leslie Buckley (Jay) and Dean Brewer Jr. (Jana). He is survived by his grandchildren, Jason Buckley, Benjamin Buckley, LeAnne Traini, Emily Brewer, Jessica Brewer, Kalyn Townsend, Norah Brantner, Everett Brantner, Fox Clarius, and Josephine Clarius; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin Buckley, Hazel Buckley, Hannah Buckley and Christopher Trainee. Dean is predeceased by his eldest daughter Becky Lee Brewer, and his siblings, Betty Lou Remington (nee “Brewer”) and Raymond Brewer, Jr.
Visitation and services will occur on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10am to 12pm at Alleva Funeral Home 1724 E Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA.
