When I meet Darren in 2018 he was very nice person, humble with  good attitude towards others even the people that he didn't know like me, he made me smile,  he was soo talkative he also had charm, he could make you feel like he knew you from before. He will allways be in my good memories.

I invited Darren to see a politician who was speaking.   He showed up and noticed that the politician was in trouble.  The politician's staff did not show up for the event.  Like Darren would always do, he volunteered and staffed the event for this politician.  He collected business cards, helped take photos and made this politician's life much easier.  He also took this politician outside and had some alone time with them.  That night, he saved this politician's behind!

Darren was a good friend and great source of support during the time I was active politically.. We wouldn’t always agree but we respected each other. When social issues come up  in our old stumping grounds, I sometimes forget and look for Darren  to be on the frontline advocating on behalf his community and Black people. I know his  presence and voice is surely missed.

Thank you for believing in me and may you continue to rest in peace my friend. May God continue to watch over your family.

I met Mr. Parker at the California Democratic Party specifically at the African American Caucus. I had no idea that our paths had crossed much earlier. I lived in the Antelope Valley for 15 years and my children had visited Uncle Darren many times. I brought my daughter, Kim to one of the CDP Conventions and she saw him there. After the hugs and kisses, she explained that he was her uncle.  I had not realized that my Darren was her Uncle Darren. He immediately declared that we were related. We are family and he introduced me as his family from that point forward. He let everyone know we are family. As it turns out, we were both gravely ill at the same time. We talked often during that period. I survived and I still mourn the loss of a great man,  my wonderful friend, and our Uncle Darren.  RIP!

I met Darren over 22 years ago when I was a rookie splicer with then Pacific Bell.
His knowledge and tenacity inspired me to follow in his footsteps as a union steward. The very brief interactions with him were so impactful to my life, I will forever remember him.
To the family of Darren, I am truely and sincerely saddened for your loss.


I am Debra Benjamin. I came to know Darren through  my dear friend his mother, Kia Parker. It gives me great joy to know how many lives Darren touched during his earthly journey. Rest In Peace loyal soldier. Your dedication to fighting for the rights of workers will always be remembered and treasured. I thank🙏God that our paths crossed,  and I was inspired by your perseverance in the battle.

I first met Chairman Parker when I was the vice chair for the CYD Black Caucus in 2017. He welcomed me with open arms and later entrusted me  with an appointment as a regional director for the CDP African American caucus. I feel blessed that I was able to work with a mover and shaker in politics who made things happen and always represented African Americans.  He was one who saw and believed in the abilities of the lives he touched even when you didn’t see them for yourself. I know he did that with me.  He also made my son and husband always feel welcomed and like they “belonged” when they were around him. Thank you, Darren for everything you did for California, and for all the lives your changed during your time on earth. You fought the good fight and now it’s time to rest. We will continue your “bold” leadership on this plane.
