Nate was a visionary who turned a small company into the largest jewelry company in the world and greatly impacted the lives of many, many people including myself.

Nate was a truly good guy.  Smart, affable and purposeful.  While a Csuite executive he remembered the little people from where he began.  A mentsch!

Condolences to the family. I always found him kind and encouraging. The highlight of my career was a phone call from Nate Light congratulating me for a zero AR 90 day. The Princess Line cruise ship brings memories of music laughter and fun.  He had a natural way of equality towards everyone,  encouraging them towards their very best. Setting a standard of excellence, generosity of spirit. Truly an inspiration in my life. He set such a great example of how to succeed by what he accomplished. I can honestly say I’ve never seen that before or since.

I have very fond memories of Nate, he really had a sense of humor.  I remember one time when we were going to the airport and we were arguing who was going to drive..and Nate said "I will" as cool and calm as could be...I burst out laughing (Nate was no longer driving at the time).  May he rest in peace and my deepest condolences to his family.

Nate was a true "GEM" in every sense of the word!  He has had a profound impact on so many!  His legacy will live on through the actions of those he touched, both personally and professionally.  Our prayers go out the entire Light family!

Nate Light hired me in 1978 when the company had 28 stores.  Thru Nate’s mentorship, I grew to Corporate Senior Vice President.  I have never known any individual with his business sense, people skills or personality in my lifetime.
Sterling Inc. was built upon Nate Light’s success.  You can’t take away the memories which I will treasure forever...

My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the Light family at this time.  Nate was a strong individual with a purpose that he achieved. We met at the purchase of Kay Jewelers in 1990 at the corporate meeting held at Tangiers.  Great man. 

I'm so sorry to hear of this loss of a great man.   One of my 1st memories of Signet was going to #10 to train as a new team member and having lunch with Nate and Mark in the diamond grill.   That was back when Jared was just a new concept and He talked all about it.  He left a great legacy behind.  My deepest condolences to the entire Light family.   RIP

I was so sorry to hear of Nate's passing. He was a wonderful and caring person.  He made everyone feel important! I have such fond memories of Nate always coming in the department and speaking to everyone and will cherish them. RIP Mr. Light!!!!!

Nate Light was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.  I have very fond memories of Nate during my time at Sterling Jewelers.  He was certainly a people person and I was sad to hear of his passing.

I go way back with Nate to the Rose Jewelry days 1964-1967. Nate was truly a gentleman and fun to be around and became quite a pillar in the industry.  I went with Seiko in 1971 and made a trip down to Akron to present the line and Nate couldn’t have been nicer. If I’m not mistaken I went to his son’s Bar Mitzvah many years ago.

Nate was truly the backbone of Sterling Jewelry. I remember one time him coming to Distribution for a quick meeting, seeing everyone standing and sitting around, he proceeded to drop to the ground and sit like everyone else. He never acted better than anyone else and that’s why we all liked him. God bless his family and loved ones.

Despite some physical limitations, Nate Light was a unique visionary in the retail jewelry word. My favorite memories with Nate are from 35 years ago in 1986 when we went on a financial road show which ultimately led us to wall street and publicly listing a small jewelry chain from Akron , Ohio on the NASDAQ stock Exchange.  The closing line to our primitive slide show presentation was Nate stating that we are not the biggest company on the top line, but we are the biggest on the bottom line, compared to our competition.  As it turned out, Sterling/Signet became the biggest on all lines. I remain grateful for all the time I spent with Nate and the huge impact he had on my life to this day
