The daughter of Paul and Fanny Veitz, Isabel was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she attended
public schools and Brooklyn College, earning a bachelor’s degree. She became a Suffolk County, N.Y.,
social worker, and later, as an assistant director, helped establish the county’s Office for the Aging.
In 1946, she married Joseph Bossert who predeceased her in 2003. Isabel and Joe became avid
sailors, and sailed from Maine to Florida in their 30-foot sloop, “Sunburst.” She was a voracious reader.
Isabel is survived by daughter Margo Zusman and husband Barry. They have a daughter
Rebecca Zusman. In addition, Isabel is survived by her son Mark, his wife Holly, their daughter Casey
Bossert and her husband Justin Dalton. They have two daughters, Abigail and Morgan. Mark and Holly’s
son, Jeremy, passed in 2022.
