On December 15, 2014, Gary Richard Samwick, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl passed away. He was born on January 28, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a loving son to his late parents, Rose and Arthur Samwick. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn, to whom he was devoted. He loved and was so proud of his sons: Matthew David (Christine) of Lake Oswego, Oregon and Andrew Alan (Terry) of Norwich, Vermont. He took great delight in being a wonderful grandfather (Pop) to Jake, Brandon, Sarah, Aidan and Lilian. He is survived by his sister Arlene (Arnie) Young and his three nephews, Jason, Jonathan, and Jeffrey Young. In 1956, Gary graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn. He went to L.I.U. College of Pharmacy. Soon after graduating from college, he entered the Army. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston and he was sent to Nancee, France. In 1976, he moved the family business from Long Island to West Palm Beach. He was an avid golfer. He served as Treasurer of Temple Beth David in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in the congregation's early years. Whatever Gary did, he did well. He was a man of keen mind, great wit, and generous spirit. He loved his country and his family beyond measure. While he will be missed, he will always be here with us and the future generations of his family who will strive to live up to the great standards and examples he set. Funeral services will be held (today) December 17, 2014 at 10:30 am at the IJ Morris Chapel at Star of Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Rd, West Palm Beach, Florida 33412 (561)627-2277. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida.
