Victor Franklyn Johnson departed this life for his eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2015. Victor was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies to the loving parents of Alfred Victor Johnson and Elizabeth Wilhelmina Codling. After finishing high school Victor went on to college to become an engineer. Due to the death of his father, he changed directions and switched to automotive mechanic. He worked tirelessly, working on weekends towing cars and trucks and fixing cars for his friends and acquaintances.
He served the United States in Cuba for seven years, working on heavy equipment. He worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) over thirty years, and was known as the nuts and bolts specialist. He went on to receive numerous awards and accolades and even was featured on the cover of the UPS magazine, titled “The Mechanic Wiz”. He later moved to Palm Bay, Florida in 2002 after retiring from UPS as a Heavy Equipment Specialist.
Victor enjoyed having friends and family together, playing music on his turntable and was very proud of his collection of vinyl records, dancing, playing dominos and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
He was married to Elaine Hepburn and from that union produced five children. They later divorced. He later remarried Seleta Gray, now deceased and that union produced three children. While living in Palm Bay, Florida, he met and married his present wife Hope Jones.
Victor is mourned by his loving wife of eleven years, Hope Johnson; his son Peter Franklyn Johnson, (Grace) of Columbus, Ohio; and seven daughters; Jorene Ann-Marie King, Miami, Florida, Donna-Maria Lorraine Johnson, Miami, Florida, Victo-Rene Mercedes Robinson, (Wayne), Miami, Florida, Michelle Elizabeth Brown, (Cedric), Kingston, Jamaica, WI, Andrea Johnson, New York, Theresa Johnson, New York, Natasha Williams, (Benjamin), Hagerstown, Maryland. Predeceased by daughter Ann-Marie Johnson-Lambert and brother Lipton Phinn. Stepsons Patrick Burgess, (Janet) of Tampa, Florida, Paul Trowers, New York, Michael Burgess, Orlando, Florida, and Desmond Burgess, New York, Grandchildren; Tamara King-Foster, Tanya King-Lee, Tara King, Tracey King, Tina Welch, Tarig Robinson, Petra Johnson, Joel Johnson, Leon Johnson, Daniella Johnson, Noel Johnson, Adrian Brown, Rachel Brown, Jasmine Trowers, Duane Burgess, Derrick Burgess, Christopher Burgess, Karina Burgess, Chara Gladden, Deslyn Burgess, Jonathan Trowers, Anaya Ikeobi, Jade Trowers. Great-Grandchildren; Austin Foster, Natalie Ekeimig, James Lee, Joshua Lee, Nya Lee, and Kasanie Manosalvas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Fountainhead Funeral Home Chapel beginning visitation at 9:00am with service at 11:00. Interment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery.
