Lorenzo "Gene" Janutolo, 74, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of Bethel, CT, passed away 3/27/16 at William Childs Hospice House. Gene was born in Danbury, CT April 17, 1941 and was the son of the late Lorenzo A. Janutolo and Susan Sluti Janutolo. He attended Danbury schools, attended Northeastern University and the University of Bridgeport. He was a member of the NRA and NG rifle team, won many awards, medals and national competitions. He was an avid sharpshooter and anti sniper for the Army National Guard for six years. He was employed solely at the Barden Corp for 39 years in Danbury from age 16, starting in the gauge room, and retired as Senior Superintendent. He also served as President of the Barden Credit Union and President of the Danbury Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was active in the K of C Pavia council 48 in Bethel CT where he served as Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight for many years. He was a longtime member and vice chairman of the parish council of St. Marys Church in Bethel, CT before relocating to Palm Bay Florida in 2000 with his wife Marietta. Gene continued to volunteer with his wife with groups such as St Vincent DePaul Society, St. Joseph Catholic Church, the local Republican party, and was an active poll worker for many years during voting elections. He is survived by his loving wife of over 48 years, Marietta, his beloved daughter, Jennifer, of Palm Bay, his twin sister Susan and husband Frank Haefner of Ladson, SC. He is also survived by extended family :sister in laws Laura Collins, of CT, Nancy Collins of MA, and his loving nieces and nephews: Stacy Collins, Maureen Natale, Dennis Collins, Karen Lang, Cory Cassar, Ken Cassar, Sarah Keating, Jamie Re and their spouses and children...and his dog "Bella" which he adored. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Vincent DePaul Society or William Childs Hospice House. Visitation will be Thursday March 31st from 9:30-10:30 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Palm Bay, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30. Interment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial. Friends are welcome to join immediately following at the K of C Hall in Palm Bay for a celebration of Gene's life and are encouraged to attend in remembrance.
