Jesse Hamlin, a dedicated loving husband, cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away on May 25, 2024, in Palm Bay, Florida, at the age of 79. Born on June 15, 1944, in Winston Salem, NC, Jesse grew up to be a man of extraordinary character, personifying kindness, charisma, audaciousness, and a compassionate spirit throughout his life.
In 1961, unknown to him at the time, in math class a pencil eraser would introduce Jesse to the love of his life, Shirley. They were married on December 19, 1964, starting their adventurous journey in life together. Jesse and Shirley's journey went for 59 amazing years filled with faith, respect, laughter, and joy. During the beginning of their journey, Jesse served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army, he was an exceptionally proud Vietnam veteran.
After serving in the Army, Jesse moved his family to Lakeland, Florida and he went to Tampa Tech to become an electronic technician. Eventually, settling in Palm Bay, Jesse worked as an electronic technician before retiring around 2006. Jesse was a member of LifePoint Church of Palm Bay for over 40 years. He was a huge volunteer and served as a Deacon. He volunteered several years for the Booster club at Palm Bay High.
Jesse was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed hanging out with his family. There was no one that could make him laugh harder than his wife, Shirley. He loved sitting on the front porch in the evenings. Jesse was always willing to give his children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends a helping hand with any project no questions asked. He was a die-hard NASCAR fan and loved watching his 3rd cousin Denny Hamlin race.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley, his daughters Kimberly Darden (Michael) and Karen Baguisa (Tony), his son Kevin Hamlin (Brandi), his grandchildren Michael Darden (Ashley), Blake Hamlin, Jesse Baguisa, Charlotte Hamlin and Kevin Hamlin, his great-grandchildren Ciel and Royal, siblings Bill, Jane, George, and many nieces and nephews.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Frank T. and Phoebe L. Hamlin, his sister Helen Langford, brothers Joice Hamlin and Tom Hamlin.
Jesse will be remembered for his unwavering faith, compassion, warm smile, and dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
