Gerald Bator Burdick

Gerald (Gerry) Burdick passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2022 at home in Palm Bay, Fl. He was born at home in Old Forge, NY and grew up on Main Street. He attended the Town of Webb school and graduated in June 1952. After his father’s death he ran the family business, The Burdick Store. He married a local girl, Pauline (Polly) Brown June 30th, 1954. They both worked in the Burdick’s store until 1956 when they moved to Florida. Dad worked for Eastern Airlines in Miami for 32 years as an aircraft mechanic, lead mechanic and aircraft inspector. He then worked for 10 years for Commodore Airways. They lived in Hialeah and Miami Lakes, Florida until they retired to Palm Bay, Fl in 2000. They enjoyed returning to Old Forge during the summer months visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Barbara (Tony) Squeglia of Palm Bay, FL; Dardy Marden (Thomas Lee Atwell, deceased) of Palm Bay, FL; and Vickie Burdick of Ft Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Marden of Austin, Texas; Bradley (Katie) Marden of Sasebo, Japan, Angela Costello of Davie, FL; and Brandon Burdick of Gastonia, NC, five great-grandchildren, Riley, Ivy, Colton, Julianna, Jeremiah and Starlit, and an half sister, Maria Jess Thompson of Leesburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly, father, Gerald Malcolm Burdick, his mother and stepfather, Helen and Paul (Herb) Ritz, and infant son, Douglas Wayne Burdick.
Viewing is Friday, March 11th at St Joseph’s Catholic Church At 12pm. Funeral mass to follow at 1pm. Burial at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge.
