Gardy Widmark Eliacin was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on April 17, 1969. He was the son of Denise and James Eliacin. At the age of sixteen, he migrated to the United States. He attended Wingate High School in New York. After he graduated, he pursued university studies in electrical engineering and graduated in 1990. Wishing to further his education, he studied nursing and worked as a nurse until he was diagnosed with cancer last November.
Gardy married Sabine Laguerre fourteen years ago. Together, they have two handsome boys, Angelo and Julian. Sabine, as a nurse, has always unconditionally supported her husband in every best possible way, especially when he became sick with cancer of the pancreas. As Gardy's conditions worsened, he was greatly supported, not only by his wife, but also by both families and friends until he fell asleep in death on May18, 2019.
Gardy was a caring father, as evidenced of devoting his time, along with his wife's, to shape the kids’ overall growth. He enjoyed taking Angelo (his oldest son) to piano lessons, football practice, and more.
We lost a brother, a friend whom we will greatly miss. Today he left us but also marked our lives. Though his death being difficult and unbearable to say the least, we must turn the page, we must move forward to provide comfort and support to Sabine and her two boys. Certainly, they will need both families so that they can continue to flourish in this precarious and unpredictable world.
The two families, Eliacin and Laguerre, are grateful for your presence and your friendship during this difficult time.
