Like so many, I'm sorry that you're gone.  I sometimes take for granted how delicate our lives can be and wish I could of been a better friend and reached out in your times of need.  RIP and & you'll live on in our memories .

This is a memory I share with many. You introduced Vaughn and I to the Irish Car Bomb. I share this drink with so many and I tell them about you. I remember watching you pour the drinks and you were so focused and all I could do was smile and think "he is calculating how much to pour in each one." I share who you are with so many. I know your smile will never dim. RIP Duane

June 5th was the last day I got to see my friend. The last day I could see his smile, hear him laugh, or learn something new about business or economics. June 5th was the last day I heard my friend tell me to have a good night. Although I've only known you for a month and a half as your new neighbor, you welcomed me into the neighborhood with open arms and invited me to your home to eat and you also walked over to my house whenever you had free time to inspect the work I was doing as a new homeowner. I thank you for the memories you created and hope you rest in heaven.

You are an amazing and kindhearted man. I only share words of praise to my family about. You've always been welcoming and open to me. I remember struggling with equations for my chemistry class and you took the time to work them out with me. I can't express into words how much you are missed, but know you have touched so many hearts especially mine. 

My prayers go out to the family especially Duane’s mother and sisters. This tragic and sudden loss is unbearable and unbelievable. Praying for the strength of his family and friends during this tough time. Duane has always had the kindest and sweetest soul. May he rest in pease now and forever. 

A great professor and a fantastic cook - unusual combination! That’s the accomplished person who has left us way too early. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.  Rest assured that he is now in his Father’s mansion.  RIP Duane🙏🏽

I first met Prof. Chin-Quee when I participated in the annual IRSC Math Olympics competition for high school students. Having done well in the competition during my freshman and sophomore year, Prof. Chin-Quee took me under his wing in my junior year and encouraged me to further pursue my interest in math. He recruited me to join the IRSC team for the annual Florida Two-Year College Math Association’s Math Competition in Jacksonville. After performing successfully at that year’s competition, I fondly remember he took our whole team out to Jacksonville’s Riverwalk for an afternoon of celebration.

To me, Prof. Chin-Quee was a caring mentor who loved sharing his passion for math with others. Although I never formally took a math class with him, we would always have lively conversations about math whenever I stopped by his office. Two memories in particular come to mind. First, he was always eager to share with me a math paper about studying the zombie apocalypse using ideas from dynamical systems, the branch of math that he did research in. I must admit that as a high school student, zombie population dynamics sounded really cool, but I was completely lost when it came to the math behind dynamical systems. Amazingly however, dynamical systems showed up later in my college math course on differential equations! Second, when I was a junior in college, I stopped by his office to talk about the mathematics behind a quantum mechanics class I had recently taken. As I was mentioning Hilbert spaces, his eyes immediately lit up and he said, “oh Hilbert spaces are cool, but wait until you hear about the more general version of Hilbert spaces, which are called Banach spaces!” Sure enough, Banach spaces showed up later as a key topic in a math methods for physicists class at my graduate school.

I will dearly miss Prof. Chin-Quee for being such a great and kind mentor to me over the years, and I send my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Duane, little brother. In many ways we grew up together. You were a boy discovering life; I was a young man learning to navigate this world. I loved you then. I love you now. 


I was so impressed and proud of your academic accomplishments and the success you enjoyed in your career. I was sorry that we were not connected as closely as we once were, but I would search for you online from time to time just to have some idea how things were going with you. Still can’t quite accept that you have left us. Miss you much. 

To the family, I hope that God’s grace will grant you some measure of comfort now and in the future. Duane’s light shone brightly and we were all blessed by that. 

Duane's family and friends, I know mere words cannot replace the deep hurt we feel.  As we weep let us remember that our Creator promised to "wipe away all our tears." When we trust and love God  grace lives. Let's wait on God for our answers  and our faith will be strengthened and perfected. Duane has left this world, however, he lives in our hearts as we continue to talk about him and be proud of him.

You helped me to graduate and showed me how to be a successful and engaging teacher. My first year as a math teacher is upcoming and I will always strive to be as you were. 

There are few people who come in your life and become like family! From grad school to being an office apart for 10+years, Duane  was more family than friend! Wishing you all the peace in the world, my friend. This world is definitely less brighter without you in it.

To my cousin Duane, I think the last time I saw you was at the Chin Family Reunion. It hurts me to know your gone, I will miss you. 

It is so difficult for me to accept that you are no longer with us. Going back to high school you have always been a true and faithful friend. You were always smiling and always made everyone smile too. I never heard you speak a negative word. Beyond being a math genius that liked to cook and bake, you liked to make others laugh. You always went above and beyond if anything was needed of you. 

My heart goes out to the entire family.

I will miss you my friend, until we meet again.

He was a very loving friend and he was very sweet when he met me I never thought I would have a cool friend like him it sucks that he is gone and he will truly be missed by me and my little family thank you for being such an awesome friend and liking mustangs 

Duane made the world a better place for everyone he interacted with.  The memories & great times that we had together will be with me forever and I am forever grateful that he was a part of my life.   

My heart aches to hear this news. My deepest sympathies to Sabrina and family.

Gosh, my man Chin-Quee. I still remember when Duane was plaedging to the fraternity when we were in college. We were inspecting all the pledges and had them all lined up. Duane has a grin in his face and it downed on me that Duane was for ever smiling. So I stopped in front of him and asked him, "dude, why are you always smiling???" He shrugged and said "I dunno.." lol.
Actually I cannot remember a time when he wasn't smiling. 

I'm still kicking myself for being in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and not giving him a call. My heart broke when i heard the news and I can't reconcile it in my kind.

All I can remember is Duane's constant smile. 
Keep smiling brother. You're a beautiful person.
