July 7, 1940 - August 15, 2018
Bob Igleheart passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with Amyloidosis. He never gave up and was hoping for a cure with the ever-present support of loyal friends, family, and Donna, his beloved wife of 55 years. He is survived by his two sons, Bayan (Lindsay) and Brook; his four grandchildren, Shayden, Sasha, Arden, and Carver; his sister, Betty Bedsole (Bill) of Helena, Alabama; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Joe Miklavcic of Upper Captiva Island, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Blytheville, Arkansas and lived most of his youth in Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1962. Bob and Donna married in 1963 and spent the next four years in Japan where Bob served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. After his military service, he attended and graduated from Harvard Business School.
Beginning in 1970, Bob pursued a career in agribusiness and remained interested and engaged for the next 48 years, including 15 years with Castle and Cooke and twenty-two years as owner and CEO of Agrivision International. Having a taste for travel and adventure, he and Donna lived in Honduras, Costa Rica, and Ecuador before moving to the San Francisco Bay area in 1976. In 1981, they relocated to the Monterey Peninsula when Bob became President of Dole Fresh Vegetables. Bob, along with trusted and respected partners, formed their own produce company in 1996. With his stewardship, it thrives and prospers to this day.
Bob had many interests during his life including sailing, fly fishing, reading about history and business, world travel, and golf, which especially gave him great enjoyment and an opportunity to nurture old and new friendships. He loved the challenge of the game, and liked to play new and interesting courses around the world.
He was known for his integrity in business, his quick wit, his sublime sense of humor, and his love and dedication to family.
The family wishes to thank his doctors on the Monterey Peninsula and at Stanford Hospital, and his kind and able caregivers.
