Jo Ann McCormick, a native of Silver Creek, NE, passed away peacefully. After attending the University of Nebraska, she and her husband, Richard L. McCormick, were married on August 31, 1952.
Prior to Dick’s retirement, Jo spent thirty years as a military wife living in the Territory of Alaska, Germany, and eleven different states. During this time, she sang in church choirs and women’s choruses and bowled in women’s and mixed bowling leagues. Jo served as president of the Officer’s Wives Club in Frankfurt, Germany and was chairman of the Ft. Ord Chapter of the American Red Cross. After four years at Ft. Ord, she and her husband retired forty years ago to the Monterey area. Jo enjoyed playing duplicate bridge at the Monterey Bridge Center and became a Ruby Life Master.
In addition to her husband of nearly 65 years, Jo is survived by her children, Jim (Carrie) McCormick of Black Forest, Colorado and Terri (Dennis) Bunck of Bourbonnais, Illinois and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be at The Paul Mortuary Chapel this Thursday, March 9 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will take place the next day, Friday, March 10 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Monterey.
