Our loving mother, Angela Brucia Duffy, 97, passed away peacefully in her Monterey home surrounded by her beloved family. Angie is the last surviving member of the Monterey Brucias, a well- known Italian family.
Angie attended local schools, graduating from Monterey High School and Heald Business School. While working at Fort Ord, she met the love of her life, James Vincent Duffy of San Francisco. They married in 1946 and together raised five children, sharing a wonderful life. Angie was also a respected business owner of Brucia-Duffy Tax Service, with many loyal clients including fishermen, restaurants, and businesses before reluctantly retiring at the age of 90. Angie had a full life, was an avid bridge player, a member of San Carlos Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Elks Club. She traveled extensively, visiting relatives in Ireland, Sicily and taking many cruises with her family. Angie loved any and all parties!
Our dear mother leaves behind daughters Sharon Larson, Maureen Signorella, Denise O’Toole (Ducky), and son Patrick Duffy (Jeri). Also she held a special pace in her heart for Chris and Tom Tipton and James Smart. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Duffy and her daughter, Kathleen Duffy Smart. She will be dearly missed by her eight grandchildren, Derek (Jen), Jill, and Jamie Larson; Erin (Riann), Matthew and Scott Duffy; Patrick and Conor O’Toole as well as six great-grandchildren.
Angie always put her family first and will be remembered for her kindness and loving spirit. We are blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Mother, but most of all the importance of family. We would like to thank caregivers, Nana and Pam Nelson for their dedication as well as Drs. Michael Galloway and Craig Geiler. A mass will be held at the San Carlos Cathedral on Saturday, February 20th at 10 a.m.
