Our father, Fred Contreras 97, passed away on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 in his home surrounded by family. Fred was an 83 yr. Oxnard resident coming from New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his wife Socorro, son Joseph and grandson Joseph. He is survived by sister Nelly Sierra, daughter Suzanne Ramirez (Alfred), son Michael (Terry), daughter Rebecca, son Anthony (Barbara), 13 grandchildren 39 great grandchildren and 14 great, great grandchildren.
Fred was a proud WWII Army veteran and was a recipient of 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts.
He had a heart of gold and a sense of humor like no other. He enjoyed family gatherings and looked forward to playing cards, dominos, and of course, his lottery scratchers. Fred was a joy to be around – he made the world a better place.
A viewing will be held on Tues. Jan. 4th from 1-5pm and a rosary from 5-6pm both at Funeraria Del Angel Oxnard. On Wed. Jan 5th a mass will be held at 10am at Santa Clara Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo. Due to the continuation of Covid and its variants there will be no reception to follow. The family asks that only those vaccinated and masked attend services.
