Anne was born in Dublin, Ireland to Thomas and Mary Corrigan on April 1, 1938, the 8th child to 9 siblings. Anne became a US citizen in November, 1964.
She came to California in 1957 as a nanny for a doctor in Long Beach. She met and married Elmer Stringer in 1960. They shared 54 years together before Elmer’s passing.
Anne and Elmer relocated to Port Hueneme CBC base and bought a home in Oxnard where she established a day care and lovingly watched over many children for many years. Anne went on to work almost 40 years at the Navy Exchange and worked her way into management.
Anne is survived by; her son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Julia, of Fairbanks, Alaska, her daughter, Colleen, and son-in-law, Darrell Wagner, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and son, Paul, of Ventura, California. Anne has 7 grandsons and 20 great grandchildren. Anne has been preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 of her 8 siblings, and most recently her daughter-in-law, Michelle Stringer.
St Anthony’s Church located on 2511 south C st Oxnard will hold a rosary at 10 am and mass at 11 am. Interment will follow around 1 pm at Conejo Mountain memorial park, 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo, California, 93012. Face mask will be required at all locations.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the 3rd floor staff at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital for allowing us to hold vigil before Anne passed.
