William Richard Fries

William Richard Fries (Boo Boo) 87, passed away peacefully March 3, 2020 in Orlando Florida surrounded by family. William was born December 28, 1932 in Parkersburg, WV to John Joseph Fries and Cordelia (Potter) Fries.

In 1951 he graduated from Parkersburg High School in West Virginia. He served in the Navy from 1952-1956. William was a Navy Corps Hospital Apprentice and then went to Franklin School of Science and Arts, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here, he completed his X-Ray Technician Certification as well as meeting his wife, Sylvia R Fries.

William and Sylvia married in 1962. In 1970 they moved to Orlando, Florida. They co-owned Sandroni’s Italian Cuisine Restaurant in Orlando. Bill worked for Walt Disney World 1971-1977 as a landscaper. In 1977, they moved to Apopka, Florida, bought 10 acres and started their indoor foliage business, Friesland Nursery.

He is survived by his wife (Sylvia Fries), 2 daughters (Katrina Porthouse and Kristin Root) son-in-laws (William Porthouse and Eric Root), his 4 grandchildren (Brittany Porthouse, Kyle Root, Erica Root and William Porthouse) He was preceded in death by his father (John Joseph Fries) and mother (Cordelia Potter Fries) , brothers (Benjamin and John Thomas) and sister (JoAnn) and daughter (Illisia)

A celebration of life luncheon will be held in Orlando Florida. More details TBA
