It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Richard (Rick) James Sampson announces his passing, on Friday, September 28th, 2018, at the age of 73 years. Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Deborah; and his children, Dawn Sampson Christian, Jason (Tracy) Payne, and Jennifer (Bryan) Schleif; grandchildren, Delson, Delaney, Nathan, Jason, Andrew, Haley, and Emma; sister, Barbara (Robert) Kinsman, and by his many nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his sisters Minnie Walton and Beverly Holz.
Moving from the Metro Detroit area, Rick and Deborah made their home in Geneva, Florida for the last 19 years. While in Florida, Rick was able to continue to pursue his many passions. Throughout his life he fabricated and built cars for drag racing, including one of the first four-link rear suspension rear engine dragsters. When he wasn’t building cars, Rick enjoyed converting Freight-liners and old busses into motor coaches - which he and Deborah would travel in. So unmatched were his talents; Rick never saw something old that he could not convert into something new.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew and love him.
