Phil was born November 11, 1953, in Savannah, GA to John and Pearl Laws. He grew up in the Conway area and after graduating, began working for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He retired in the late 80’s and started his own sprinkler system business. Phil spent many years at the Orlando Speedway, always looking for a way to go faster. He had many fond memories of the speedway and friends he made along the way. Many of which became lifelong friends that he kept in touch with today. Aside from racing, Phil loved to cook. He often could be found at the grill, stove, or boiler perfecting his recipes. He was always the first to volunteer to cook. If Phil said he was bringing the food… he brought the food and all the “fixings”. Over the last 18 years, he enjoyed working for a local law firm as an investigator before retiring in 2021.
Phil is survived by his daughters Jennifer Kibler; Jessica (Jeff) Hudson; Kimberly (Jonathan) Gazard; and his 8 grandchildren Joshua, Fisher, Tristan, Ansley, Delaney, Callen, Vincent, and Lorenzo.
To honor his memory, his family is coordinating a Celebration of Life which will be planned at a later date. Information will be posted on the Celebration of Life for Phil Laws Facebook page (link below). Phil’s family would love for everyone to post about your memories (photos or stories) of Phil on the Facebook page.
