He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irma, their four sons (John, Brian, Christopher and James) and seven grandchildren, one brother (Tom) and two sisters (Diane and Patti).
After his service in the U.S. Army, where he met Irma, he went on to embrace a successful career with True Value and Do It Best, before retiring as a Market Development Manager from Ace Hardware. John truly found great passion and fulfillment in his work, and cared deeply for all of those who worked alongside him. He also embraced an unofficial career as a “sports manager” for his sons, sharing his passion and enthusiasm for sport and the value of dedicated hard work.
More than anything, John was proud of the life he built as a brother, father, grandfather and uncle. Seeing his four boys become loving fathers brought an incredible joy and pride to John’s life. He loved to spend time at the beach playing with his grandchildren, who greatly loved and revered their “Pop-Pop.”
John had an incredible ability to make anyone feel as though they were a member of his family, touching the lives of friends and neighbors with his generous spirit, witty humor and genuine sense of caring. His impact as a father, grandfather, friend and mentor will be felt for many generations to come, and has undoubtedly left a legacy to be cherished.
John was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, and his presence here on earth will be greatly missed. He was a dedicated member of Aloma Church in Winter Park, Florida, where his Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 9:30am.
