John William Jarrell was called home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2018 while he was surrounded by his family at his home in Orlando. John was preceded in death by his father, James Earl Jarrell, his mother Esther G. Jarrell and his brother James Earl Jarrell, Jr. John is survived by his wife, Betty Jarrell, his daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Coppens, Orlando, his son John W. Jarrell, Jr (wife Wanda), Orlando, five grandchildren, Tabitha Smith (Husband John) of Spring Hill, TN, John Jarrell III (wife Brittany) of Columbia, TN, Alex Coppens of Orlando, Brandon Jarrell of Seminole, FL, and Danielle Coppens of Orlando, three great grandchildren, Addison, Aubrey, & Alexis Smith of Spring Hill, TN.
John was born June 10, 1944 in Ogden Utah. He married his high sweetheart Betty in 1964 in Stuart, VA. They were happily married for 54 years. Their two children were born in Petersburg, VA. They moved to Orlando in 1970 and except for a four year stay in Virginia, they have always called Orlando their home. John worked in construction most of his life. He had many talents, but his eye for remodeling and building was a blessing to his family. The most important things in his life were his family and Jesus. He cherished his family and was an inspiration to all of them.
He had always wanted to be a teacher and that dream was fulfilled in his later years with his grandchildren and the Small Group studies at CrossLife Church. As a member of CrossLife Church he served as a teacher for older adults, a deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, and a Building Fund Chairman. He was awarded the Title of Deacon Emeritus this year. He has a heart for missions and the expansion of the Kingdom of God. He was a great mentor which was highly respected and enjoyed fellowship with his close family and friends. John has many family adventures that took him around the world. He had a joyous spirit that was infectious to be around and will always be remembered for his love, kindness, and never-ending patience.
