Jesse J. Cugini, son of the late Cesidio and Catherine Cugini and beloved husband and father left this life on Friday, February 8, 2019 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Flavia Cugini (nee Rosato), sons Matthew (Lisha White), Christopher (Lori), grandchildren Gianni and Kendall, brothers Thomas (Joanne), Robert (Anita) and Rocco (Lucille) and brother and sister in law, Chris Miller and Edith Rosato.
Born in Philadelphia, Jesse attended St. Donato’s Elementary School, St. Thomas More High School and graduated Temple University School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
A registered pharmacist, Jesse worked for many years for retail pharmacies before he and Flavia opened their own health food store in Newark, Delaware. He ended his career as a pharmacist working for the Veterans Administration in Perry Point, Maryland.
Jesse and Flavia spent 30 years in Elkton, Maryland on a small farm. Those years were spent raising their children in addition to horses, goats, chickens, cats and dogs. They also enjoyed the fruits of their labors from their vegetable garden. They were active members of Trinity Episcopal Church. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008, Jesse was enrolled into a clinical trial with the investigatory pancreatic cancer vaccine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Cancer-free for 10 years, Jesse and Flavia retired to the community of Solivita in Kissimmee, Florida in 2015.
Jesse enjoyed playing pickleball, golf, Tai Chi and ballroom dancing with his wife Flavia. They made many good friendships and enjoyed the time they spent together.
Jesse always had a positive outlook on life. He was eternally grateful to the care and support that he had from the healthcare team at Johns Hopkins in addition to the love and concern he received from his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
