David Knickerbocker departed peacefully on February 27th, 2019. He is survived by Sandy, his wife of 50 years, his two children, Ellis and Kendra, his two brothers, Carl and Tom, and his four grandchildren. He leaves behind him a legacy of service, beginning with his years in the military, followed by his time as Mayor of Oviedo, and extending into his years as an entrepreneur and employer. Those who knew him will remember his love of country, his keen intelligence, his enjoyment of politics, his sense of humor, and his little gems of philosophical wisdom. His ashes will be interred within the city he loved, at the Oviedo Cemetery. To young people he would say: Do not put ceilings over yourself, do not put any limit to the great things you can accomplish. If you think you can’t, you probably won’t. If you think you can, greatness may follow.
