He was born on May 16, 1942 to parents Wilbur (Boe) and Anabel Absher in Wathena, Kansas. His parents preceded him in death. He was a Baptist.
He attended school in Wathena and went to 2 years of college at Highland Community College. He played all sports in high school and football at Highland Community College.
Tom married Nancy K. Petro on September 14th, 1963 at St. James Parish in St. Joseph, MO. They were blessed with three children; Thomas Aaron, Brian, & Amy. He owned and operated Absher Sign & Printing for 35 years; 25 of those years Nancy worked with him.
He coached his children in football, basketball, & baseball. He enjoyed golfing, art, and spending time with his family. He loved to watch KU basketball and K-State football.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of 55 years. Their children: Thomas Aaron (Tammie), Brian (Grace), and Amy (Daniel). Ten grandchildren: Tyler, Jordan, Mindy, Molly, Colin, Thomas, Ashley, Brynn, Ian, & Zoey. Three sisters: Nancy (Wallace) Prawl of Stewartsville, Missouri, Linda (Russ) Nigus of Topeka, Kansas & Jeri (Jim) Hewins of Eudora, Kansas. His uncle Harvey (Jean Gayle) Parker of St. Joseph, Missouri and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
He was a strong Christian man who fought a long hard battle. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS, followed by the Memorial Service at 2:30 pm.
