Ruth M. Ruhl (Morgan), 87, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Freedom Pointe in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born and raised in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. She met her future husband on the dance floor of the USO in Philadelphia. They married in 1949 in South Bend, Indiana. Later they moved to Overland Park, KS where they raised their four daughters.
Ruth and Bud were members of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park for fifty years. Ruth was involved with many parish activities and made many close friends. She worked as a secretary for the KU Medical Center dietetics and nutrition department for ten years. Her hobbies included playing bridge, bowling, and volunteering at her church. She moved to Freedom Pointe in 2007 and joined Holy Cross Church in Overland Park.
Visitation will be held 7-9:00 PM, Friday, February 10 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM, Saturday, February 11 at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bud (M.E.) Ruhl, and daughter, Lois Miller. She is survived by three daughters: Mary Ruhl (Dave Cornell), Sarah Hauber (Rick), and Martha Vyhanek (Joe); ten grandchildren: Anne (Andrew), Matthew, Christina, Eric (Ashley), Joseph, Jennifer (Josh), Erin, Tony (Erin), Bobby (Aisha), and Mary Jo; three great-grandchildren: George, Charlie, and Penelope; and sister-in-law Ellouise Bishop.
